"Wildstyle The Sampler" is a must have not for all fans of that flick but also all hiphop music lovers.
The official info about the book says:

To celebrate the film’s silver anniversary, Wild Style The Sampler provides an inside look at the making of the film, its release, and the reverberations it caused around the world. Curated by Ahearn, this exhibition and accompanying book of the same name introduces us to a cast of characters and outrageous adventures through a collection of photographs, original artwork, production stills, and archival materials and includes the work of Ahearn. Martha Cooper, and Cathy Campbell, as well as animators Zephyr and Dr. Revolt. Featuring iconic images of legends and pioneers including the Chief Rocker Busy Bee, Lee Quinones, Fab 5 Freddy, Dondi White, Zephyr, Smiley 149, DJ AJ, Grandmaster Caz, GrandMaster Flash and the Furious Five, Melle Mel, the Fantastic Five, The Funky Four, Sha Rock, Double Trouble, Rammellzee, Debbie Harry, Patti Astor, and Frosty Freeze, among others.

Photo: PowerhousearenaUnknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-738428028499825449.post-67836291104789629772008-03-24T02:22:00.003+00:002008-03-24T02:37:54.421+00:00Jaguar Wright in EuropeDon't miss out the European club tour by RnB singer Jaguar Wright, backed by Berlin's own Livedemo Band. She first came into my attention with her feature on a Hezekiah track, who btw is also on the tour bill alongside the great Bahamadia and Philly's hard-working DJ Statik (Ill Vibe Collective). We don't see RnB singers of that category too often in Europe, so worth the visit big time. Also I am fascinated by the nice vibes between the artists, the DJ and the band, who only had one day to rehearsal the whole set. Tourdates see Subotage website.

Picture: lexmelekUnknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-738428028499825449.post-69453233467522731752008-03-24T02:08:00.003+00:002008-03-24T03:39:19.046+00:00Mixes of the week #4Yes, it has been a while, but we manic is still around, don't worry.
Today I want to introduce to you three soca/carnival 2008 mixes which are all worth the download. Full-length on googlevideo.

Utilizing excerpts from the award-winning non-fiction text "A Small Place" by Jamaica Kincaid, Life & Debt is a woven tapestry of sequences ... all » focusing on the stories of individual Jamaicans whose strategies for survival and parameters of day-to-day existence are determined by the U.S. and other foreign economic agendas. By combining traditional documentary telling with a stylized narrative framework, the complexity of international lending, structural adjustment policies and free trade will be understood in the context of the day-to-day realities of the people whose lives they impact.

[via seen.]Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0
